GRTgaz – Tour of a hydrogen demonstrator

Jupiter 1000 is a European power-to-gas demonstrator. The goal is to produce hydrogen and methane from CO2 captured by an industrial neighbour of the site.

Ground and drone scanning plus full 3D modelling of the site were needed to offer an interactive tour in the form of a digital model. The application, available on PC or in virtual reality, is used to explain the project to investors & partners, as well as at events and conferences.

The virtual tour is available on PC and Mac, on Meta Quest 3 (with a hand-tracking module) and as a video subtitled in French and English.

First feedback at the Hyvolution conference:

“The first hydrogen injections into the gas transmission network took place in 2020. The methanation unit was commissioned in 2022. Even though it has not yet completed its full test programme and many aspects remain to be tested, the project has already yielded a wealth of operational lessons.
